Adoption Policies

Here you can find all of our adoption policies and FAQ. Please take the time to read through the provided information below before filling out our adoption application.

How do reservations work?

We post all babies that will be available prior to the date of being weaned, which we refer to as "Adoption Day". If you contact us to put a hold on a baby you are interested in prior to adoption day, we consider this a reservation.

We require that a 50% deposit to be paid in advanced after application approval in order to hold a baby for you. This deposit can be paid via Paypal, or in person, and  is non-refundable.

We
prefer that all reservations be picked up within 10 days of Adoption Day, or within 10 days of application approval for rats 5 weeks or older at time of application. However, in some cases we may be able to offer an extension if it is not possible to pick up within 10 days, Please speak with us at the time of your application and we will be happy to work with you.

Should you cancel your reservation or fail to pick up your rat(s), your reservation and adoption will be canceled and the babies will be re-posted for adoption, or offered to the next person in line on the waiting list.

Why do you require a reservation deposit?

To avoid failed reservations, we implement a non refundable 50% reservation fee. Please, understand that it is not us that these failed reservations affect, but the rats as a whole. The adoption fees go back to the rats in the rattery to feed and house our residents and our litters. We make no profit. When someone fails to show for a reservation it prohibits the rat from finding its forever home and affects the rest of the residents of the rattery overall. These reservation fees will be due at the time of reservation and can be paid via PayPal, or in person. Once we receive your application, we will send you the link to our rattery’s Paypal or make arrangements to meet.

Why do you require a contract to be signed?

This is to ensure that our rats are given the best quality of life possible, and to ensure that they are not flipped, unethically bred, or otherwise mistreated.
